Surfer riding inside the barrel of a turquoise wave — boards sourcing for NZ and AU buyers

Boards — SUP, Soft-top & Bodyboards

Inflatable SUPs, surf school softboards and OEM board programmes manufactured through trusted partners in China, managed from Auckland.

South Swell Supply helps swim schools, surf schools, holiday parks, resorts, marine retailers and private-label brands across New Zealand and Australia source inflatable paddle boards, soft-top surfboards, bodyboards and towables. We are an Auckland-managed sourcing partner — not a factory catalogue — working with trusted manufacturing partners in China on MOQs, constructions, OEM graphics, sampling and sea freight. Most board lines start from 20–50 units per model, with samples in 10–14 days and production in 25–35 days after approval. Whether you need rental-grade soft-tops for a surf school or a private-label iSUP range for retail, send a brief and we reply within 24 hours.

Boards — your questions answered

What board shapes can you produce?

Six shape families from our partner factories' existing moulds: all-around (10'0"–10'8"), touring (up to 12'6"), yoga, kids (from 8'0"), fishing boards with mount points, and rental-grade versions of any shape. Using existing moulds means no tooling cost and mixed-shape orders — a 50-board order can combine multiple shapes and graphics.

Can I mix SUP sizes in one order?

Yes. You can combine different lengths (e.g. 10'6" and 11'6") within one production run as long as each size meets the per-model MOQ of 20–50 units. Mixed-size containers are common for retailers stocking a full range.

Can I combine different board styles in one container?

Yes — this is one of our core strengths. iSUPs, soft-tops, bodyboards and accessories can ship in a single mixed container, reducing your per-unit freight cost. Tell us your full range and we will plan the load.

Can I order one sample first?

Yes. A single custom-graphic sample board takes 10–14 days to build, plus freight. Many clients approve printed artwork proofs plus a stock-construction sample to save time on the first bulk order.

Can you print my own branding?

Full OEM branding is available — custom deck graphics, rail tape, logo pads, box art, hang tags and instruction manuals. Send your brand guidelines or logo and we prepare production-ready artwork.

Can you help develop a new board?

Yes. We work from your brief, reference boards or sketches and coordinate with our manufacturing partners on shape, construction and materials. Development sampling is quoted separately and credited against your first production order.

Do you inspect before shipping?

Every order includes pre-shipment inspection. Inflatables are seam pressure tested (held at 20 PSI for 24 hours). Soft-tops and bodyboards are checked for finish, fin box alignment and packaging. You receive an inspection report before goods leave the factory.

Can you ship directly to New Zealand?

Yes. Boards ship sea freight to Auckland (18–25 days port to port). We handle export documentation and can recommend a freight partner for door-to-door delivery, or work with your forwarder.

How many boards fit into one container?

Roughly 260–300 boxed 10'6" iSUPs fit a 40ft high-cube container. Soft-top surfboards load around 350–450 depending on length. Mixed containers combining boards with apparel and accessories are standard.

What is the difference between single-layer and fusion iSUP construction?

Single-layer boards use one layer of drop-stitch PVC and suit budget and rental lines (~9kg for a 10'6"). Fusion construction laminates a second layer mechanically, cutting weight to around 7.5kg and increasing stiffness — the standard for retail brands.

Can you make school and rental-grade soft-tops?

Yes. Rental-grade soft-tops use thicker IXPE deck skins, triple stringers and reinforced rails to survive daily use. Several NZ and AU surf schools run this construction — tell us your usage and we will spec accordingly.
