Custom Swimwear & Apparel
Custom rash guards, training swimwear, UV tops and club apparel for schools, brands and retailers — from 100 units per style.
South Swell Supply helps swim schools, clubs, brands and retailers across New Zealand and Australia develop custom swimwear and apparel — from UPF rash guards and training suits to club team gear, parkas and poncho towels. We are an Auckland-managed sourcing partner, not a factory catalogue: you work with one English-speaking team on MOQs, materials, sampling and freight. Most styles start from 100–300 units per design, with samples in around two weeks and production in 25–35 days after approval. Whether you need kids rash vests for a learn-to-swim programme or a private-label range for retail, send a brief and we reply within 24 hours.

Swimwear & Apparel — your questions answered
What is the minimum order quantity for custom swimwear and rash guards?
Typically 100–300 units per style depending on fabric and construction. A sublimated rash guard or UV top usually starts at 100 units; a cut-and-sew racing suit with custom fabric starts around 300. Kids rash vests for swim schools often sit at the lower end. We confirm exact MOQs in your quote.
Can you develop a private label swimwear range for our retail or surf brand?
Yes. We work with brands and retailers on OEM ranges — rash guards, board shorts, UV tops and club apparel under your label, with woven labels, hang tags, polybag packaging and barcode-ready cartons. Send your brand guidelines or an existing garment and we build a tech pack before sampling.
Do you make kids rash vests for swim schools in New Zealand and Australia?
Kids rash vests are one of our most common swim-school lines. Sizes 2–14, UPF 50+ fabrics to AS/NZS 4399, and club colourways with logo placement on chest or sleeve. MOQs from 100 units per design, with size splits across your junior groups.
What is the difference between rash guards and UV sun protection tops?
Rash guards are fitted nylon/spandex tops worn in the water — standard for clubs and surf schools. UV sun tops are lighter, more relaxed cover-up styles for beach, tourism and resort programmes. Both can be UPF 50+ rated; we help you pick the right fabric and fit for how your customers use them.
How long does sampling take?
Around 2 weeks from approved artwork to a physical sample in your hands, plus courier time (3–5 days to Auckland or Sydney). Revisions add roughly one week per round. Multi-style programmes (e.g. rash vest + cap + poncho towel) can be sampled in parallel.
Are your fabrics chlorine resistant and UPF rated?
Training swimwear uses polyester/PBT knit at 180–210gsm for long life in chlorinated pools. Rash guards, kids vests and UV tops are available in UPF 50+ fabrics certified to AS/NZS 4399 — important for schools, outdoor programmes and Australian sun-exposure requirements.
What MOQ applies to changing robes, poncho towels and instructor uniforms?
Changing robes and poncho towels typically start at 100–200 units per style because of fabric weight and construction. Instructor uniform sets (rash top + shorts + cap) are quoted as a programme — often combined with your core swimwear order to keep MOQs practical.
What does shipping to New Zealand or Australia cost and how long does it take?
Sea freight to Auckland or Sydney takes 20–30 days port to port. Apparel is light, so smaller orders often ship air freight in 5–8 days at reasonable cost. We quote both options with your order and flag GST and duty where applicable.
Do you handle design and tech packs for OEM orders?
We work from your artwork or brand guidelines and prepare production-ready files — print layouts, size specs and tech packs. If you only have a logo and colour palette, our team can develop the range for a small fee credited against your first production order.
